Education Volunteer Programs

Attend the Volunteer Roundup on May 21st.

Download the roundup announcement Adobe Acrobat format for more information

Join our dynamic docent corps! Docents actively engage visitors in learning about the artworks on view in the galleries, and may participate in outreach programs and assist at events.

Art-loving individuals may apply for the docent program, which is offered free of charge to those who join as UAMA members. Your UAMA membership supports the Museum's educational programs.

Unique insights into the treasures of the Museum's remarkable permanent collection, as well as introductions and previews of traveling exhibits challenge docent volunteers to advance their own art appreciation skills and knowledge of art history. Docents hone their communication techniques to provide enjoyable encounters for visitors. Docents guide groups, comprising school children, UA students and adults, and provide opportunities for visitors to look carefully at artworks and build meaning.

Docent education meetings, held on Monday mornings from September through May, are led by Lisa Hastreiter-Lamb, Curator of Education, with guest speakers including UAMA staff, UA School of Art faculty and other experts.
