The University of Arizona Museum of Art hosted an evening fundraising gala on Saturday November 15, 2008 to celebrate the return of the historically significant Altarpiece of Ciudad Rodrigo. The Altarpiece underwent ultraviolet light and x-ray examination and infrared reflectography to reveal the artists' work beneath the final paintings.
This fundraising gala event celebrated the culture of fifteenth-century Spain though music, art, food and attire. Fernando Gallego's medieval altarpiece will be on display for viewing. Tickets cost $200.00. The gala event schedule:
- 5:30 p.m.: The Arizona Choir, under the direction of Dr. Bruce Chamberlain, performed fifteenth-century choral music at Holsclaw Recital Hall
- 6:30 p.m.: Appetizers on the Mezzanine with a preview of the new KUAT -
Arte Special:
Retablos: Uncovering the Secrets of 500 Years - 7:30 p.m.: Four-course medieval dinner in the Main Gallery
Culinary arts consulting by Judith Baigent-King, CCP; banquet fare prepared by Dakota Cafe and Catering & Redington Catering; Spanish wines graciously provided by Segura Viudas and Tapeña.
We experienced the entertainment of the Society of Creative Anachronisms, Flam Chen acrobatic fire performers, and heraldic trumpeters.
