Lizz Denneau, Ain’t No Sunshine When She’s Gone [detail], 2024, Mixed media collage
Join UAMA and The Projects/Space, a Black- and woman-owned gallery in Tucson’s Historic Arts District, for a talk with artists featured in its current exhibition (be)loved.
In a world increasingly marked by division, injustice, inequities and pain, the question arises: how do we embrace the (be)loved? The exhibition (be)loved serves as both an exploration and a meditation on this profound question, centering on the lived experiences of artists of African heritage.
This virtual panel features the five artists highlighted in the exhibition: Alanna Airitam, Granville Carroll, Lizz Denneau, Amber Doe and bianca goyette. Offered in conjunction with the UAMA exhibition Hank Willis Thomas: LOVERULES, this is a chance to learn about the practices and perspectives of contemporary Black artists in the Southwest. Please register below to join us!
Note: (be)loved is on view through March 7 at The Space, located at 174 East Toole Avenue.
